Any thoughts on our itinerary listed below? We will be visiting in May with our daughter (who will be almost 2). I will also say that this is only tentative, and we realize things may change when we get there, depending on how we feel and how our daughter is handling things. Can you suggest a hotel in Madrid or at least help me to decide on which side of the city should I look?

I can not decide between the West side (Santa María, Parque de la Montaña) and the East side (Botanical Gardens, Parque del Retiro). Which side would you prefer and why? Will have a car, so proximity to train station is not important.

We are going to Madrid in the beginning of October and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good budget hotel in a good location with reasonable price.
I just started looking and there are tons of hotels, but if someone knows a good hotel I would love a recommendation.
Budget: less than 100EUR per night per room
